“Boys and girls together,
Me and Mamie O’Rourke
Tripped the light Fantastic
on the sidewalks of New York…”
Ladies and Gentleman, Friends and Guests! Join us August 12th as we bring the elegance of ballroom dance – and the excitement of New York City – to Newtown's historic Edmond Town Hall stage! Inspired by the classic 1920’s tune by Blake and Lawlor, our talented cast of amateur and professional dancers will sweep you off our feet as we ‘Trip the Light Fantastic’ through some of New York City’s most beloved scenes.
Enter the Edmond’s front doors and be teleported to the bustling heart of New York, Times Square! Guests can pose for photos, take in the sites, and visit some of the vendor stalls for street-snack faves before stopping by the ticket booth. . .
Then it’s on to the show!
From a dimly lit bar where the sultry sounds of tango move the patron’s feet, to an alleyway in Spanish Harlem where the clave rhythm makes hearts beat faster, our dancers celebrate New York’s rich ballroom dance heritage. Whether it’s the velvet curtains of a Broadway stage, or the extended cap of a street performer, each scene is richly brought to life for your entertainment!

Following the show, its YOUR turn to get in in the action! Head upstairs, where the Edmond’s Alexandria room has been transformed into the “the world’s finest ballroom” – the legendary Savoy! Dress to impress, and dance the rest of the night away to classics from the Savoy Ballroom’s glory days as New York’s preeminent swing hot-spot, as well as plenty of modern ballroom hits!
